I'm off out tonight to a talk with Norman Dewis.

I'm looking forward to hearing all his adventures,
I will take my camera so if I get images I will post them.

For now here are some images I took, I will put an update in soon. The Mk10 related stuff will be in the next E-Magazine no. 16. Which goes out to all our members great

Image 1, even though Norman is about you can see he still tells a great story with a few gags thrown in..

Image 2, shows the first racing car Norman developed...

Image 3, the plaque still on the wall in Jabeke where he broke the record in the XK120 after it was beaten by the Spanish

Your friend and mine.. File-3

Apparently the cart was striped right out and when he got back to the finish everyone wound him up making out he had done
a bad run but Norman said he took the rev counter up to 6300rpm….

Next to the XJ13, a one of car...

The muddy upside down XJ13 after the crash, apparently a wheel collapsed, I have heard other stories as well Exclamation Exclamation

Clive.

That is amazing. Where and how did you get to go?

A point. Imagine doing 174 mph in an open top anything let alone a 50s Jag.

Sorry for the late update and replies had two sets of Annual accounts needing to be finished and things have taken a back seat…

Ernie/ Guys,

It was an evening put on by our counties car club:

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

The Evening with Norman Dewis was £12.50 with food thrown in.

I noticed in Octane magazine a similar one with Jackie Stewart (who I cooked for when I was a chef, may I add) this is £130.00 per person affraid

Our night covered Le Mans And the Millie Miglia and the testing of some of the cars between the XK120 and XJ40.

It would of been rude of me not to ask about the MK10 so thats in the E-Magazine 16 great

His main talk was about the Millie Miglia of 1952 in xk120 car no 619, 619 is related to there start time they all left at two minute intervals and Dewis and Moss left at 06.19 on the sunday morning. The course is 1000 miles though streets just lined by spectators apparently some were banging on there helmets as they drove through streets.

It is a fantastic dash starting off Brescia Arrow Verone Arrow Vicenza Arrow Ferrara Arrow Ravenna Arrow Spoleto Arrow Rome back up Arrow Viterbo Arrow Siena :arrow:Firenze Arrow Bologna Arrow Cremona

Apparently Moss/ Dewis hit problems a 123 miles from the end but according to the book dropped out of the race while in 3rd place...
