Fine weather for the annual Hunter region British Car day.

Over 100 Jags, no Zeniths

A couple of hundred other Brit cars.

heres one that really caught my eye, had a chat to the owner... it is a 50's Daimler (open top)...someone on here has a similar one but earlier ?

Made from 1949-1950-1951-1952.
Giving us four years of production for the Barker body db 18 DHC.
My but these cars get around don't they? Considering they only made 500 of em,.
Must have an amazing survival rate!

Don't actually "have" the car yet, trying to be painfully respectful about that point.
The Daimler story is in the EM from an issue or two ago "My Garage".
I do spend a considerable amount of time with the Daimler though nearly as much as I do with my Jaguar's.

Looks great!

By the way, instead of editing my post yet again, I thought I would add that here in Ontario Canada we have a British car day in September of every year.
We can get up to a thousand or more cars and when Mrs V12 and I show up with our silver car we are always the ONLY one.
I would l love to see that change though, I feel I have had enough of the special attention. We get a dozen 420's and not a single Zenith.
We even get over two dozen Daimler's and Daimler's were NEVER even imported to Canada except privately! We got a bit more than a thousand Zeniths over the ten years of production and such a sad showing really.

Good news though, I met a fellow with an Aston sedan who has two Zenith cars.
Of course not on the road yet...Yup but we are hoping eh?

I mentioned to the gent the gist of your story, he thought it was a fine one.

He mentioned another member of his club (The Daimler /Lancaster Club) had one same as his only better condition, for sale... had dropped his price from 50 to 38k still no interest.

like Zeniths, these are big scary beasts.

There was a nice V12 Daimler XJC...didnt talk to the owner or take a pic, must be an incredibly rare car, think it was an early VDP DDS

OH wow! Too bad my garage will top out at around 14 cars.
There are so many other Jags I would love to have!

I cant find out anything about Lancaster cars.

When I bought my Daimler VDP DDS, I sought out the PPO, who was a very aged gent, a complete car nut.

He took me down and showed me his two vintage cars.
One was a Vauxall 15/90 (I think, the big one anyway)

It was the other one that took my breath away though, the finest automobile I have ever laid eyes on. I think he told me it was a 1922 Lancaster.

I read a story in the paper shortly after, he had died and left his estate to the Catholic Church, who were stunned when the car sold at auction for $500,000.

Never been able to find out anything about such a car
