I thought that Mk10 owners may be interested to learn that the very first Jaguar V12 to be installed in a car and run on the road was my engine when it was fitted to a Mk10 in April of 1965. The XJ13 didn't run its V12 until the following year.

Something else for Mk10 owners to celebrate this year - not only the 50th anniversary but also the first car to run under Jaguar V12 power (albeit as a testing mule).

I have added some pics of the engine's stripdown for anyone interested - Click HERE

*whisper* it came up on eBay Germany ..... Shocked

Not many people spotted the auction. Because it was on the German site, searches for "Jaguar" "V12" "XJ13" etc didn't bring it up on UK or US-based searches. Within a few days of the auction I jumped in my pickup with a friend and drove almost non-stop to the place outside Stuttgart where it had been for the last 40 years. When I saw what it was I couldn't hand over my money (which wasn't a lot) fast enough!

The funny thing is that Jaguar Heritage had been offered the engine a couple of years ago but didn't recognise it for what it was. so they turned it down Embarassed

Every time I log on I am continuously amazed at the wealth of information our members have to impart. I just love the story about how you acquired your fab motor XJ13. It must have had your name written on it for the last 40 years he he
