What are your views on the Turn Left On Red rule which is operating in some parts of the world?
I've always tended to agree it is a good thing to assist traffic flow but we're behind the times here and no government has ever wanted to introduce it, even for a trial.
It's where you have a red traffic control light facing you and you stop and then you are able to treat the red TCL as a Stop Sign and proceed by turning left providing it is safe and expedient to do so.
There is a disclaimer here though. Are our roads designed for it? By that I mean that you might get drivers who want to turn left on a red TCL but can't because the car in front wants to go straight ahead so has to remain stationary.
I guess that's no different though to green filter arrows now.
In left hand drive countries they obviously have Turn Right On Red rules.
